# Activate Your Discover Card by Phone

> Step-by-step phone activation using the number printed on your card.

## Why phone activation

It is the hardest method for scammers to imitate. You dial a number that is physically printed on your card, so no fake link can redirect you.

## Steps

    Look at the sticker on the front of the card, or the number on the back.

    Calling from the phone number on file speeds up verification.

    You will enter your card number and confirm identity details.

    Stay on the line until the system says the card is active.

## Tips

* Have your card, date of birth, and last 4 of your SSN ready.
* If the call drops, hang up and dial again. Do not call back an unknown number that claims to be your issuer.
